Nabiullah Khonmirzaei, Deputy Minister of Jihad-Agriculture and Head of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, at the ceremony of launching the operation of the national projects of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture in the presence of the President from Bandar Lengeh in Hormozgan Province, mentioned that: The total fishery production of the country has increased from 885 thousand tons in 2013 to more than one million and 222 thousand tons in 2020. Also, the per capita consumption of aquaculture increased from 8.5 kg in 2013 to more than 13.5 kg in 2020.

 He then added: Sea fish farming has been localized, and we have grown 12 times in the sturgeon industry, which has been one of the measures taken by the government of prudence and hope during the last 8 years.

Khonmirzai pointed out about 14 infrastructure projects in the field of fisheries in Bushehr, Qazvin, Sistan and Baluchestan and Hormozgan provinces, and mentioned: These projects have been ready for operation with an investment of about 600 billion Tomans, job creation for 1,192 people and bedding for 5,000 tons of production.

The head of the Iranian Fisheries Organization also stated that: We had a 4-fold increase in shrimp production and we expect to reach 60,000 tons of production in this industry this year.

Also, regardless of agricultural towns, the existing infrastructure for shrimp farming has reached 23,000 hectares in the country, which is enough to reach the project forecast of the year 2025.
