41% increase in marine shrimp fishing in 2021 in Iran


The Director General of the Office of Fisheries of the Fisheries Organization of Iran said: So far, 6657 tons of sea shrimp have been caught in the southern waters of the country and it is predicted that 12,000 tons of sea shrimp will be caught by the end of the fishing season this year.

He also added that: compared to the average of the last 5 years, there is 21% increase, and compared to the average of the last 10 yrs, there is a 31% increase.

Akhoundi also stated that: The total catch of sea shrimp in the southern waters of the country in 2019 was about 9,500 tons. He then added: This year, shrimp fishing was 30% from Bushehr province, 48% from Khuzestan province and 22% from Hormozgan province.

The Director General of the Office of Fisheries of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, regarding the hunting of king prawns stated: King prawns or lobsters are caught in the waters of Sistan and Baluchestan province, and this year we have banned their fishing due to the restoration of reserves.
