Iran is the ninth largest producer of canned olives in the world


The executor of the Olive project announced that more than 120,000 tons of olive fruit in the country

was harvested, and added that: Olive fruit production this year compared to previous years has a good trend and harvest from some provinces still continues.

Javad Mir-Arab Razi stated that: The amount of olive fruit production in the years before 2020 was about 100 to 110 thousand tons and added:In 2000 alone, with favorable conditions, 147,000 tons of olives were produced in the country.

 

Mir-Arab also added that: According to the latest agricultural statistics, the area of ​​the country's olive groves is about 93,000 hectares, of which about 64,000 hectares are fertile and 29,000 hectares are infertile and in the non-fertile stage. He said that olive growing is done in 26 provinces of the country, and added: Zanjan, Qazvin, Gilan, Fars, Golestan and Semnan are the major olive producing provinces.

 

The executor of the olive project of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, about Iran's position in olive production mentioned that: Iran is the 9th largest producer of canned olives in the world, and in 2020 Iran exported 795 tons of canned olives to countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE and Malaysia.
