World Water Day

Message from the Head of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture on World Water Day

According to the information center of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, Mr. Abbas Keshavarz, head of the Minsitry, after referring to the point that this year world water day, as world water and climate change day, added that: The importance of water is a global issue and it does not belong to one country or region. All countries in the world, even those living in rainy regions, need a plan and strategy to increase water resources productivity.

Iran is in a dry and semi-arid climate and this limitation has encouraged the past generation of this land to consider a great value for water, especially in the desert regions of the country, and used different ways to survive and cope with dehydration through greater savings and productivity.

On the other hand, given that most of the water is devoted to agriculture and food supply, both in our country and around the world, increasing the efficiency of these resources through new methods of irrigation, cultivation of plants with less water demand and through modifying and promoting techniques such as introducing low-water plants, greater use of green and gray waters, methods of cultivation, tillage and many other methods such as developing greenhouse cultivation and conservation agriculture have always been the main policies of the Ministry of Jihad- Agriculture.

In the end, I would like to thank and appreciate all the hardworking farmers who have always appreciated the value of water and have embraced various methods of water productivity, as well as I appreciate contributions of the managers, experts and researchers in this field.
