Iran and Switzerland readiness to expand cooperation on plant protection and plant quarantine

According to the information center of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, quoted by Public Relations of the National Plant Protection Organization, Dr. Mohammadreza Dargahi, in his meeting with Ambassador of Swiss confederation, Marcus Leitner, has mentioned that: In spite of the sanctions, there is no shortage of pesticides in Iran, and we have produced or imported twice as many agricultural pesticides as needed in Iran.

He then added: Since Swiss pesticide companies have always had the required standards and quality to be presented in Iran's pesticides market, it is possible to expand cooperation and interactions between them.

Dr. Dargahi also made a comment on the quarantine issues related to export, import, and transit of agricultural products, and mentioned: Since both countries are obedient and obliged to international laws and IPPC conventions on quarantine matters, these interactions are standardized and in accordance with existing laws.

He then added that: The Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture would like to cooperate more with Switzerland in the field of research, knowledge transfers and other activities related to agriculture.

The ambassador of Swiss confederation, Marcus Leitner, emphasized on the importance of expanding economic relations between the two countries, and expressed his hope that the draft agreement on expanding these relations between the two countries would be reviewed signed by both parties, as soon as possible.
