Durum wheat cultivation is developing in the country

Adviser to the Minister and Executor of the Wheat Project of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture said that: Due to limited water resources and climatic conditions, Iran has a great comparative advantage over durum wheat cultivation and pasta production.

Mr. Esfandyari-Pour in the meeting of durum wheat production, mentioned that the water requirement of durum wheat products is one of the four water requirements of rice and added: In this regard, pasta can be a good alternative to rice in the country. He then added that:

Given that the average protein content of durum wheat is 12%, by placing it in the food basket, a significant part of the energy needed by people can be provided through pasta.

The executor of the wheat project of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture also added that: In order to develop the cultivation and production of durum wheat, cooperation and participation of farmers, pasta factories, Agricultural Bank with the support of the Ministry of Jihad- Agriculture are needed.
