The executor of the country's beekeeping development plan said: With the agreement of the Minister of Jihad-Agriculture, the pollination headquarters will be formed in order to increase the quantity and quality of agricultural, horticultural, forest and rangeland production.
Farhad Moshir Ghaffari added that: By forming a pollination headquarters and establishing bee colonies in agricultural and garden lands, we will make a leap not only in the production of honey and other beekeeping products in the country, but also in the production of agricultural and horticultural products.
He then continued and stated that: In the first phase, with the coordination of 250 unions and beekeeping cooperatives in the country, we are ready to pilot a significant number of beehives in some agricultural and garden lands.
He then added that Bee pollination affects the production of forage plants used in animal food and thus indirectly affects the production of protein related products.
The executor of the country's beekeeping development plan also mentioned that: According to the latest census in October 2019, we have about 98,000 apiaries and about 10 million and 600 thousand bee colonies in the country, and Iran is ranked 4th in the world in terms of number of bee colonies and honey production.
