According to the information centre of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, Nabiolah Mirzaiee, Deputy Minister of Jihad-Agriculture and Head of Iranian Fisheries Organization, at the signing ceremony, stated that: Iran-Russia Fisheries Cooperation Agreement between two countries was signed in 1996 and was approved by the parliament in Year 1997.
According to the agreement, every year the Joint Fisheries Commission should meet twice, and this year, the 10th meeting was made.
He also added that: The Russian delegation had several meetings with the Iranian team and shared the capacities of the two countries to work together.He also mentioned that the two sides pledged to remove existing administrative barriers for cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Jihad-Agriculture, in regard to sturgeon harvest ban in the Caspian sea expressed that the two countries are concerned about Caspian Sea fish stocks, and mentioned that: “We agreed that the ban on the commercial harvest of the fish from the Caspian Sea would continue.
