Production of Garlic in IRAN and Export to Various Countries


More than 355,900 tons of wet and dried garlic were produced in the country from 2017 to 2018.  According to a report from the information center of the Ministry of Jihad-Agriculture, Director General of Forage Products said: Out of this amount, 207,181 tons of garlic were produced in the past year, which 148,732 tons of it was dried garlic.

 He also added that: The most important provinces in producing wet garlic are: Ardabil, with 1320 tons, Khuzestan 1092 tons, Zanjan 2 thousand tons, Gilan 1001 tons, and Lorestan 599 tons. Asghari has mentioned that: East Azarbaijan with 961 tons production, Kurdistan with 529 tons, Kerman with 550 tons, Gilan with 700 tons, Mazandaran with 3029 tons, Hamedan with 4346 tons are among top dried garlic producer in the country.

The Director General of the Office of Forage and Forage Production of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad stated: Iran ranked 25th in the world in the production of garlic after the following countries: China, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, South Korea, Russia, Myanmar, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Spain. He said about exporting wet garlic that: Last year, more than 1,669 tons of wet garlic were exported from the country which values about $ 1,402,000.

Asghari has stated that the amount of dry garlic exported in the same year was 4700 tons, valued about 4 million and 731 thousand dollars.
